Kristen + Jon Engagement Session

Earlier this month I met with Kristen and Jon to shoot their engagement photos. Their story started when they were young teenagers but fate really brought them together only a few years ago. When you're with them though, it seems like its been a lifetime.

They share an apartment in Redbank, NJ. With their family that includes their cat NoNo and their recently rescued pup Henley who joined us on the shoot. We decided to have our session in the Jersey City area because it's close to them and there are a ton of cool spots. Kristen was so diligent in the pre-shooting process she sent me over a few locations that could work for the shoot, which is always amazing!

The sky threatened rain only moments before we met up and Kristen and Jon were ready with umbrellas to take on whatever the weather had in store for us. Within the first few shots, it began to drizzle so we had to work fast. They both killed it and really made it work. We were able to incorporate the umbrella in a few shots which added for a more dramatic look.

As it rained a little more we took cover under the train station area that was there and captured sweet shots. That was when I got to hold Henley for a bit so that his parents could have the spotlight. As we we drove to the next location the rain stopped and we decided to shoot on their rooftop area instead. It was a gorgeous space and the open air allowed the sky to dominate as a backdrop. But not without playing a little foosball first.

Overall it was a fun session, I got to know Kristen and Jon more and came to find they're truly a special couple. There's a beautiful balance between them that is seriously #couplegoals !

Right before the rain.
